Cats love it

It took them a couple of days of sniffing before they tried it, but once they tried it they loved it. The only problem with it is that it leaves little cardboard bits around that they scratched off and I have to vacuum it up.
Survives 19 cats....

I bought this in spite of some comments regarding the item being flimsy.

Came back and bought more. If they can survive my 19 rescue kitties, they can survive anything. And some of these cats are BIG..not fat, just huge...18 pounders..

My fuzzies really like the incline. I refresh with catnip and wouldn't hesitate to recommend.
My foster cats/kittens LOVE this thing!!!

This product lasts for months even with heavy daily use (I typically have 5-7 foster cats/kittens at a time.) The pom pom in the back is an added bonus - it's a kitten magnet! I don't think the plastic is flimsy at all, and even my 17lb cat uses it with no problems. I haven't had a problem with any unwanted scratching since I bought it (which is amazing in my house!) I tell everyone I know to get one for their cats!
My young cat loves it!

My older cat will do horizontal scratching but my young guy hardly would. He actually has stood at the high end and scratched the bottom! He loves to bite the cardboard too which is better than the other things he has chewed.
The best scratcher EVER

This is the best scratching product EVER. I had another product that was similar but was just a flat rectangle with the cardboard inserted; now that it's worn out I have to throw it away. This Everest scatcher not only has the incline which is appealing to my cat but the peek-a-boo ball/toy she loves.

I will say that initially she ignored it in favor of her old scratcher (I left both out) but after I put some catnip on it she went to town and LOVES it!!!
Could Save Upholstery With Training

Review Date: January 6, 2008

I bought this in order to save my upholstery when my daughter came home for Xmas with her cat. He did use it sometimes, but it took a lot of picking up and moving the cat from the sofa to the scratchbox - he rarely chose the box for his first target. However he did use it and seemed to enjoy the substitute. With more training I'm sure he would use it regularly and leave the sofa alone. The con to the thing is that it is not tall/long enough for him to stretch himself while scratching, I don't know if that is important to a cat. Another thing is that it is lightweight plastic and he flipped it over a few times in order to get at the red toy underneath. Not a problem for me to flip it back, but the scratching function is not available when it is flipped. I would cut off the toy and stabilize the box somehow if the cat were to stay with me for longer.
messy but....

It took awhile for my cats too figure out what this was suppose to be but, once they did-it was love! It does make a total mess so if you're a neat-nick, I would stick with a reg. scratching post. But my cats seem to have a competion going on to see who can scratch off more paper in one sitting & really enjoy it. Plus-when one side 'wears out', you can just flip it over & get double use out of it.

My boys (cats) love this scratcher. The plastic base is a bit flimsy but it's held up so far. Once the cardboard part wears out I may look for something with a stronger base - need to give it more time. Overall a good purchase.
Not for my current cats

I've had cats in years past who loved to sharpen their claws on the cardboard like this in the past. The two cats I have now are totally not interested in this...not sure why.
stick to cardboard version

I HAD BOUGHT THE COSMIC CATNIP VERSION OF THE SCRATCHING POST, THE ONE THAT IS MADE COMPLETELY FROM CARDBOARD AND USUALLY SELLS FOR $15. IT TOOK SOME MAJOR SCRATCHING FROM MY CATS, SO I HOPED TO BUY A MORE PERMANENT VERSION. I THOUGHT THIS PLASTIC VERSION WOULD BE IDEAL BUT ITS CRAP.
THE PLASTIC IS REALLY FLIMSY AND THE ITEM ITSELF WAS REALLY SMALL, MY 19LB CAT IS PROBABLY GOING TO BREAK IT VERY SOON
